Everything's great here, nice and cool, humid, so the show kids all look great. They're looking forward to going to Utah, I told them we'd stop in Vegas on the way back if they were on their best behavior. Based on how big Blade has gotten, he'd probably just want to see a girly show though.
I'll update again in a week, happy Memorial Day

Sunday, May 29, 2005 6:46 AM
Just a little bit of stuff left to do to get ready for Utah, It's another nice cool June Gloom day, and yesterday I brought the boys up and hosed them down to get some of the dust out of their fiber. There were mud puddles below them when I was done.
"Hey you" is now known as "Vivace's Champagne Mist" or Misty for short.

Yep, I forgot to do an update this morning. All's well here, it's just hectic getting ready to head to Nationals in Salt Lake. I'll be heading out on Monday, I'm going to take my time, as it is Memorial Day.

Friday, May 27, 2005 8:16 AM
It's a cool foggy morning, looks like the June Gloom is back. The little one is doing great, although because Michele from Aces High, the new proud mom hasn't named her yet, she has a bit of a complex as we just call her "Hey You"
She's still a bit loose in the knees, she was cramped up for 371 days, and based on her size, there wasn't a lot of room in there.

Dinner was great last night, but I had to buy. It was foggy this morning and I saw Expresso cushing alone in limbo. I looked back after the fog cleared and saw she wasn't alone, there was a 22.2 lb girl sitting next to her. She has huge bones, and looks absolutely gorgeous. Expresso is a perfect mom for a first timer, very attentive, but not overprotective.

Wednesday, May 25, 2005 8:14 AM
Pati and I have a bet. I say Expresso will deliver by 1:15 today. If I'm right, she'll take me out for mexican food tonight. If I'm wrong, I have to take out for mexican food tonight.I'm not really sure if Expresso will deliver today, but I sure know what's for dinner!

Tuesday, May 24, 2005 6:53 AM
It ended up being cooler than forecast yesterday, we had a cool ocean breeze to take the edge off. This morning, we have the June gloom kind of fog.
Expresso has bagged up,maybe when the sun comes out she'll, naw, that'd be too easy.

Monday, May 23, 2005 7:40 AM
Yesterday first thing, Expresso got a 4 minute shearing job, just enough to get most of the blanket so she'd be cooler. I had a couple of ranch visits, I told them she was shorn by vandals :)
Today is supposed to be just as warm, then hopefully cooling off.

Sunday, May 22, 2005 6:27 AM
Lots of belly hosing yesterday, it got quite warm, and it's going to be the same today. Summer is here, for a week anyway.
Spock did much better on the lead yesterday, there is hope for her.

Saturday, May 21, 2005 7:34 AM
Spock, Malea, and Penny have been moved into the show prep pen, they don't seem to be really all that keen on the idea, but it'll keep their fiber cleaner for the Nationals.Spock still doesn't much like walking on a halter, I'll get some more work done with her today.
Expresso wasn't much for treat time last night, she instead just rubbed up against the fence. She's back in her spot hiding behind the feeder this morning, we'll see what today brings

Friday, May 20, 2005 10:56 PM
Nope, I didn't forget to update this morning, after all the problems, the computer finally died last night. I was in San Diego sorting it out today, PAti and I got to eat lunch at P.F. Changs, so that made up for it.
I'm sure you have no desire to know what we ate, so I'll just say that we did not have any crias born today.

Thursday, May 19, 2005 8:38 AM
Status quo here, not much to report, fat alpacas waddling around here not delivering or even acting like they're going to soon. I think maybe they're trying to get me to let my guard down. It's not going to work, nice try ladies.

Wednesday, May 18, 2005 9:27 AM
The fencing is coming along slowly, I'm getting impatient. The area with the new crias was getting full, nine have been moved to the north field in the last couple of days.
Shogun has had lots of work, and yesterday, as I brought him up for about the 6th time, some for spit tests, he got 3 breedings also, the kid that helps out at the farm asked "What, is it his birthday or something?" Yep, he's a happy camper.

Tuesday, May 17, 2005 7:24 AM
So you're probably wondering, any new babies? Yes no maybe? What sex? What color?
We'll answer these questions and more,
After the break ;>)
10:42 AM Okay, break's over, my silly update had the desired effect of driving Michele from Aces High Alpacas bonkers, nope, no cria.

Monday, May 16, 2005 7:18 AM
The June gloom is here, it's cool and foggy. Expresso is again hanging out by herself in limbo. I wouldn't imagine it'll be too long for her.
Yesterday I headed out to see the new ranch for Aces High Alpacas in Anza, it's going to be a really cool setup.

Sunday, May 15, 2005 8:44 AM
Okay, maybe I'll drive myself crazy just a bit, Expresso was slow coming to treat time yesterday, and was all by herself in "limbo" at first light. For the last couple of hours, she's just hiding behind the feeder. From what I see, I'm absolutely sure she will deliver, eventually...

Saturday, May 14, 2005 7:22 AM
It was a nice day yesterday, warm enough that the alpacas enjoyed the sun, but not hot enough to make them uncomfortable. It looks like there's nothing but blue skies in the forecast.
We're in full swing on baby watch, but with the winter we had, we're expecting long gestations. I will not drive myself crazy, I will not drive myself crazy, I will not...

Friday, May 13, 2005 7:00 AM
It's been sunny and warm, and the alpacas have really enjoyed basking in the sun. It looked like a day at the beach, everyone has their own little spot to lay out and get a tan. The kids, of course have to run around and annoy the adults. Hopefully, we'll have a couple more soon so the adults get really annoyed :)

Thursday, May 12, 2005 7:51 AM
It looks like I finally have email sorted out. I guess time will tell. When I have time, I guess I'll need to upgrade servers.
The fencing project is going slower than I'd hoped, I'm really looking forward to having it all done. The alpacas are no longer crammed into one field though.

Wednesday, May 11, 2005 7:13 AM
The new fencing is going in, so the north field alpacas are all in one field. There's a lot of spit at the feeder.
I got a bunch of hay and threw it over the fence, and they act like hay tastes better in places they don't normally get to eat. Some of the alpacas just stretched out on it and munched away.

I'm back from Denver, it was a great show, we got some ribbons, it all went great.
It was also a lot nicer with the new "facilities", the alpacas liked it, I did too.

On Friday, Pati called to tell me that it was pouring down rain and Hepburn had nose and toes sticking out.
It was an uneventful birth, wecome Sir Ranier!
It's nice to be back home, and I'll be here until the AOBA nationals in Salt Lake City.
I had major email problems while I was gone due to 30,000 spam emails coming in per day. Someone apparently thought that this domain name is an ISP, and spam came in to aaron, aaevsmop, and 7700 other addresses. If you sent an email in the last 10 days, I didn't get it.

Sunday, May 1, 2005 8:09 AM
Happy May Day! It'd be nice to have a new cria today, we could give it a holiday name. Based on the way the girls are acting, I'm not expecting it though.
I've been getting everything ready for Denver, Blade, Baron, Malea and Penny will be going. We haven't had as much time as I would have liked with halters on the girls, I may end up with my hands full.
